special needs uk
I
have added a Facebook page as seen below in the hope that the myriad
of bodies with an interest in the many aspects of the subject will
meet up there and start to think of solutions.
Specialneedsukpage
This
is a very good summary of the views on special needs that I believe
in. Thank you Kathy Depledge for posting it. Sadly, in these times of
economic meltdown in the UK and elsewhere, the special needs and
assisted living services have been hit especially hard. I guess it is
easiest for the government to hit those least able to fight
back.
I've been campaigning for special needs for 25 years but it is still the case that the more you need help the harder it is to get it.
Not even the third sector organisations can work together, the benefits maze is beyond many who need help and there is deep division between the education, housing, social workers, health workers, DWP and HMRC which makes a happy and effective outcome very hard to achieve.
I'd love to see even a glimmer of light at the end of this particular tunnel but despite all the problems they face the people I know with special needs pull together and manage to cope so it is themselves who shine brightest against the uncaring society we live in.
